Capsized Automobile Transport Ship

Brunswick, Georgia

This ship, a 200-metre-long car carrier built in 2017 at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea, was transporting 4,000 new Hyundai cars from Mexico to Baltimore when it suffered “sudden loss of stability” coming out of Brunswick, Georgia, prompting the pilot to purposefully run it around to prevent a greater catastrophe. Leakage from the overturned autos inside and fluids from the ship itself are producing an ongoing environmental hazard until the ship can be dismantled and removed. The ship is being cut it into sections by a giant crane ship which straddles the Golden Ray and using special chain in a sawing motion to cut through the hull.

So many thanks to Southwings for flight support!
